If I give you information that you are not interested in, you are going to forget it. Undesired information has little value. However, information that is provided in response to a question has ongoing value and activates our learning and reasoning.
Walking In The SpiritYou will find that questions are a powerful mechanism that God uses throughout the scriptures. Why? To activate our thinking. To reveal information that we would not otherwise discover or realize. Did you ever notice that Jesus answered questions with questions? It was to activate the other persons thinking.
The Holy Spirit works in a similar way. Here's how. Have you ever had a question come to mind about something in the scriptures or about God? Of course. We all have. Did you take the time to get that question answered? If not, you missed an opportunity to walk in the spirit.
Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit's leading in every part of our lives. - Galatians 5:25 NLT
The Lord wants us to know Him and His ways and He is always moving us to learn of Him. However, He doesn't make us do anything. He draws us. So if we want more information we need to go get it.
For no one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me, and at the last day I will raise them up. - John 6:44 NLT

Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. - Matthew 7:7-8 NLT

Do you have difficulty understanding when the Holy Spirit is communicating with you?
If you have a question about the Lord or have a scripture pop into your head, that is the Holy Spirit in you trying to teach you. Let your curiosity pique and get those questions answered. Get excited about the questions the Lord gives you.
There are a few good ways to get those questions answered.
- Read the Bible daily. The Lord works with the Word.
Have you ever been in a discussion/debate/argument where someone is making the conversation confusing or trying to "win the argument" rather than seek out the truth of a matter?
There is a great way to get control of the conversation and move it back to seeking the truth. Start asking questions about how what is being said, pertains to the topic.
Many times in an effort to bulldoze through a conversation, so as not to lose the argument, folks will find themselves off topic very quickly. Help them get back on track by asking questions... even if they don't want to. :-)
Asking questions is a fantastic mechanism to pivoting almost any conversation into the Gospel.
