Salvation, Relationship, Testimony 1

By Reverend Bob Griffith - Guest Writer

I'm the type of person who doesn't like doing things twice or doing things that turn out fruitless. If God was real and he actually has a purpose for why I'm here, I wanted to know. After reading the scriptures I knew I had to make a commitment to Him.

Why? Well first, I needed a Savior. That was clear to me.

Surprisingly, what I noticed in God's Word was that when He would tell me in scripture what I should do, there was a blessing behind the command as well.

When He would tell me in scripture what I should do, there was a blessing behind the command as well. - Bob Griffith

For instance…
Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. - Psalm 37:5 KJV
Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established. - Proverbs 16:3 KJV

These blessings are awesome, because God is showing and telling us, if you do your part He will do His part and you will be blessed.

My relationship with the Lord began to change drastically. I was having a relationship with Him that was real. I no more felt like, he was up there, and I was down here. I would ask questions and He would answer.  God answers in many ways. You have to be in tune to Him and looking and expecting an answer.

Prayer changes things.

Immersed Into Him

By the time I had read the Old Testament and finished the four Gospels I went and was baptized in water. After reading the first chapter of the Book of Acts, I was baptized with the laying on of hands. When I finished the Bible I found a church that taught God's Word. I was so blessed and on fire for the things of God and there was no turning back for me. After thirty years I'm still on fire to this day. Praise the Lord!

Yep! I had completely fallen in love with the Lord and His Word. What was that scripture? Yeah, here it is...
Jesus said unto him, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind." - Matthew 22:37 KJV

A Growing Relationship

When you have a love relationship with the Lord there is no problem serving him. He is a God of blessings, mercy, loving-kindness, and grace. The more of God's Word you get in you the more you will love, trust and want to pray to Him. To truly know God one must love Him.

Prayer is something I had to learn and had to get used to. I didn't always know what to pray for in every situation. But once I got to know God, prayer became very easy. Let me tell you, when God begins to answer your prayers, it will make you want to pray more. It brings your relationship with him closer and closer.

Finding a quiet place to get before the Lord is so important in your walk with him. Prayer involves His Word because we know, man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.

So keep on praying. Sometimes I just don't want to leave from my prayer time because it is so refreshing to me.

I love prayer time and I'm certain you will too!

Take Action!

Is there a process and strategy to getting to know the Lord?
There sure is. Bob described that process above and continues in the next article.
He did the small things first and then grew into the bigger things God was telling him to do. Through that process he developed a relationship with the Lord that he now proclaims, "I was so blessed and on fire for the things of God and there was no turning back for me."
Start the process today. Need a little help? Here are a few places to start:
