Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. - James 1:2-4 NLT
Can you find this kind of fortitude right now? Maybe. For many of us we will need to grow into increasing levels of fortitude. This is the reason the Apostle Paul instructed us to put on the full armor of God. The first step is to think like Jesus thinks.
I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world." - John 16:33 NLT
You Were Made For This MomentLet's no longer be surprised that life is not going to go the way that we think that it should go. Let's stop letting it throw us off of who we are in Christ. The way we do that, is to think like a warrior. Think like Jesus thinks! You can begin or continue your training regimen right now.
All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. - 1 Corinthians 9:25-26 NLT
Let's take on a mindset that we are never going to stop being a warrior while we are on this planet. Learn who you are in Christ and then act like it.
But don't just listen to God's word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don't obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don't forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it. - James 1:22-25 NLT
A Warrior's StrategyPress forward. Gain ground. Secure the area. Then begin pressing forward again. That is the mindset of a warrior. Make a preemptive strike and start a prayer list. Read your scriptures. Do a bible study. Connect with seasoned Christians.
We serve the Lord, our family, friends and ourselves more effectively when we handle life challenges with strength, fortitude and resolve.
I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. - Philippians 3:13-14 NLT
Enjoy life through your training. Realize your joy in the Lord. Then while your doing that and the tough situations present themselves, let's not be surprised. Stir yourself up in the Lord like a hornets nest, galvanize your heart and be prepared to handle your business!
I love that we get to be the "hornets nest" in this analogy! We take a shot from the enemy and then like throwing a light switch, we activate peace, love, prayer and perseverance. These are powerful forces. Learn what they are, how they work and how you bring them to bear.
Be Strong In The LordLet's not tilt towards a thought process of thinking we need to "gut it out" like a helpless victim. The Lord isn't asking us to wallow in sorrow and simply just endure for the sake of enduring. Chose to be proactive in taking action.
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. - 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 NASB
He wants us to learn His plan. He wants us to know who we are in Christ and to grow in the superpowers of love, joy, peace and patience, in the midst of overcoming the obstacles that come our way.
I urge you, become an expert in these things. Be the warrior you were made to be!
